International Symbol Recognition Contest GREC'2005
City University of Hong Kong
Hong Kong SAR, China
August 24, 2005
Following the experience of the First Contest on Symbol Recognition at GREC'03, a new edition of the contest will be held during the 6th IAPR workshop on graphics recognition (GREC'2005) in Hong Kong, August 2005. The main goal remains to compare various methods for recognizing linear graphic symbols, i.e. symbols made of lines, arcs and simple geometric primitives, which can be found in any kind of graphic drawings. The framework of evaluation for this edition will be very similar to the framework used in GREC'03, with some extensions concerning three aspects of the test data:
- The number of symbols in the test data, as new symbols will be added to the framework.
- The availability of non-segmented images.
- The use of new and improved models of degradation.
All methods will be run on the same set of images, generated to cover different application domains and degradation leveles. You can download some preliminary Sample Tests, similar to those which will be used in the real contest.
If you are interested in participating in the contest, please read the Call for Participation page to get more details.
More information about contest rules and specifications can be found in the Contest Description page.
